Galatians - Freedom in Christ

The Judaizers accused Paul of allowing Gentile converts to ignore the law so that he would be more popular with them. Paul, in turn, accused the Judaizers of nullifying the power of Jesus' sacrifice by adding conditions for salvation. The question they debated was: Does salvation come through Christ alone or does it come through Christ and adherence to the law?

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap."
- Galatians 6:7

Welcome from Pastor Jerry Craig

Greetings and peace to everyone! Imagine the peace of God touching us in such a way that we can always and in all ways live in peace with others. With warm hands and joyous hearts let us reach out in peace to our fellow worshippers. May God enable us Hopewell Church all to learn and follow His ways. Quietness within should be our prayer.
"Let me fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercy is very great ..."

Sometimes life is very hard to affirm and when the blows of circumstances descend upon me, I want to go someplace with other people and be reminded by the acts of a community that affirmation is a fact larger than my private sorrow or trouble. That it exists in spite of me at the moment and that if I just hang on I will come to church and praise life again.

Ms Sharon Invites Everyone to Sunday School

We encourage everyone to attend Sunday School, so that together, we may be strengthened,
enlightened, challenged and mended. It's informational and inspirational. Please make an effort
to attend. I look forward to seeing all of you at 9:30 am. on Sunday mornings.

Your weekly Sunday school time will be enriched when you come to class each week prepared.
One aspect of good preparation is continual contact with the Word of God.
Of course, Bible reading is more than preparation. It is a vital link with the Father.
Coupled with prayer, it is the most important item on your daily agenda.

Feb 5th at 9:30 am., "Justified By Faith In Christ"
Galatians 2:15-21    Listen to Audio Here   passage begins at 2:23
The Christian life is not a matter of how well we keep the rules.
It is a matter of ongoing submission to the will of God,
serving Him with all we say and do.

Feb 12th at 9:30 am., "Blessed With Abraham"
Galatians 3:1-14  Listen to Audio Here
We can never be justified by our works. Our utter inability to save ourselves
is absolute and any attempts to do so are futile. May we never exchange the
promise of salvation by God's grace for a false hope of being saved by our works.

Feb 19th at 9:30 am.,  "Inheriting Abraham's Promise"
Galatians 3:15-18   Listen to Audio Here   passage begins at 1:57
Galatians 4:1-7   Listen to Audio Here
God promised Abraham that his descendants would one day become a "great nation."
Abraham is not only the father of Israel, but the father of all who have faith in God.
As believers, our share of that promise comes through inheritance.

Feb 26th at 9:30 am.,  "Bearing The Fruit Of Redemption"
Galatians 5:22-26   Listen to Audio Here   passage begins at 2:38
Galatians 6:1-10  Listen to Audio Here
The spiritual fruit of a Christian should provide tangible, observable results.
It should provide nourishment and encouragement to others.
Our lives should be ever blossoming and providing seed for fruitful work of ministry.
